Your hair becomes weak and vulnerable after a long period of bleaching, coloring, curling or straightening and you are trying to give your hair a rest from harmful heat styling? This is the time for you to look for human hair extensions. However, clip-ins, tape-ins, weaves, etc. what does it all mean? There are many different styles of extensions that can get overwhelming if you are new to the world of hair extensions.
The following article will provide information from A to Z and help you to clear up some confusions about one of the most popular types of hair extensions – the Weave.
*Note: In this article, we only discuss real human weave hair extensions as they are more popular and have higher applicability than the synthetic one.
What are the Sew-in Hair Extensions/ Weave?
The Weave is one kind of hair extensions which is made from a bulk of real human hair. About MCSARA’s products, our wefts are made from 100% virgin hair of Vietnamese women which is not tangled, not made from any synthetic and have no lice or animal fur. The natural human hair is delicately hand-woven into a strip about 1-2 meters long by our workers and doesn’t use any harmful chemicals throughout the process. This allows us to ensure the certainty of each stitch, thus each and every one of our clients receive nothing but the most natural, comfortable and durable results possible.
Are weave hair extensions good?
As a kind of hair extensions, wefts are a good solution for you to have a confident look with the “natural” long hair, in case you want to try out different long hairstyles but your hair is too short or it is already too weak after bleaching or heat styling, etc. so many times and you don’t want to damage the hair anymore.
Weaves not only protect your real hair from blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons or hot rollers but also from harsh weather or cotton pillowcases while you still can experiment versatile hair textures, colors, etc. ( this is because wefts are made from human hair, so it can be bleached, dyed, etc. in any way just as your normal hair)
However, weaves can also damage your natural hair underneath as much as protect it if you’re not careful or don’t install it properly. If the hair extensions, which are glued in or your braids, have been created too tight, this will cause breakage.
How to install weaves hair extensions in your hair?
It is quite complicated to apply wefts onto your head and you may need help by an experienced hairdresser, as it is a very technical and difficult application that needs to be sewn in by a professional. Your natural hair will be braided into cornrows first, then the stylists will use a needle and thread to sew the weave into the braid or cornrow. This is a very long process (usually take several hours). The tight application method often puts a strain on the scalp and you may feel very heavy or uncomfortable.
How should you treat your weave hair extension?
Although weaves may make you feel a bit uncomfortable, this type of hair extension is still popular since it’s the most permanent and seamless, as the hair is literally sewn into your own hair and cannot come off. They can last for a very long time if shampooed, conditioned and looked after properly.
You should moisturize the scalp, the nape and edges of the hair at least once a week and don’t forget to use deep conditioning products. You also should wash the hair with special protein products to minimize damage and weakening of the hair.
How long does a weave last for?
It depends on how well the hair is and how well you take care of it. As I said above, weaves can last very long if you look after it properly. Generally, it is recommended to remove the weave every 6-8 weeks for not damaging your real hair, especially when you are trying to grow your natural hair. The maximum amount of time you should have a full weave in your hair is 4 months as your natural hair’s growth will be affected.
How much does it cost to get a weave?
Because they are all hand-made from natural human hair, the price of a weave is considered quite expensive. The price of weft hair extension varies due to factors such as full head or partial weave, the quality of virgin hair, etc. Regarding our products, the price of one gram of weft hair extension fluctuates from $10.30 to $91.1 depending on the hair textures, lengths, and colors.
