Smooth and thick hair is a primary beauty ambition as well as a challenge. Christmas is coming, and we must know that cold winter air can make our hair drier. Today MCSARA’s news will introduce some tips for taking care of your hair during the coldest season of the year. These tips not only help you have smooth hair but also prevent your hair from damaging and falling.
1. Moisturize your scalp and hair by applying oil:
You should know that during the colder months, indoor heating always tends to lose a lot of moisture out and dry the hair out, sometimes leaving a dry, flaky scalp. To combat dryness effectively, you should use a leave-in conditioner or add hair oil to your winter hair care routine. Before going to bed, you just only apply few drops of nourishing hair oil to help replenish your hair during the winter with the moisture that it needs, preventing it from breakage, and leaving it soft and shiny. Some of our favorite hair oils include Argan oil and jojoba oil.
Sometimes, you can use a heavier oil treatment such as coconut oil or castor oil directly to the scalp. Let the oil sink in for 20-30 minutes to deeply moisturize the scalp, and remember to wash your hair.
2. Avoid regular hair washes:
It is said that washing your hair every day is not good for your hair, and it’s time to make a change to your winter hair care routine. Regularly washing your hair will strip it of its vital natural oils keeping the hair moisturized and protected. The vital natural oils play an important role in taking care of your hair during the colder months.
You should try to extend the period between your washes as much as possible until you find the perfect period for your hair. If you usually wash your hair every day, wash once for two days. And if you find your hair is still lacking moisture, wash once for three days. Using dry shampoo between washes to keep your hair smelling and looking fresh is another tip.
Dry shampoo is a good choice for hair in winter.
3. Avoid heat styling:
Another way is to limit to using hair tools like hairdryers and curling tongs, because of the heat which can dry out your hair and scalp, make your hair damaged. Let your hair dry naturally after washing instead of hairdryers whenever possible. You can try some hairstyles such as twists, buns, and ponytails, braid to avoid heat styling to hair.
With a high ponytail as the star Ariana Grande, you don’t need styling your hair with heat.
4. Remember to cover your head with a hat or scarf:
I think covering your head with a hat or scarf is the best way to protect your hair from the elements. However, one thing you must make sure that the hat or scarf is not so tight because it will restrict the circulation in your scalp. Hat and scarf not only protect your hair but also keep warm and make you look stunning in the cold winter as well as Christmas.
5. Avoid washing with hot water:
As we can see, hot water not only dries out your skin but also wreaks havoc on your hair and scalp. It is said that hot water damages the delicate skin on your scalp, which may be extra sensitive during the winter. Therefore, you should wash your hair with warm or cool water to protect your hair.
6. Don’t go out with wet hair:
Do you know that wet hair is more vulnerable to damage than dry hair? If you go outside in winter with a wet head, the weather outside reaching extremely low temperatures can cause hair to freeze and break. You should wash your hair at night before going to bed or use dry shampoo if you need to go out immediately.
7. Have a healthy diet:
Do you know the foods you eat affect how your hair grows? With the right foods, you not only protect your hair but also make them thicker. You should eat some foods that are good for hair in winter such as salmon, eggs, avocado, carrot, spinach, kiwi, peanut butter, clams, red peppers, walnuts, blueberries, liver, oysters, guava, yogurt, etc.
However, if your hair is so thin and weak, you can choose the hair extension in this Christmas and winter. Just by some minutes, you can change your hairstyles with different colors and textures.
